Windows 7 - Is it for You?
That is the title of the presentation given to the club by Gary Pickering on September 21. The entire presentation, including a number of items for which time did not permit coverage, are provided. The document contains numerous links to videos on various aspects of Windows 7 as well as slide shows and text discussions. Go to to Gary's website: Senior eSolutions.com. If you wish to determine the issues involved in installing Windows 7 on your computer, go to: Windows 7 Upgrade. Download the file offered and run it on your computer. It will present a report of any issues, even minor ones, connected to the installation of the new system.
Here's some video links that Bob Mandelstam provided that could help you with Windows 7:
How to use your history and favorites in Internet Explorer
How to connect to the internet with Windows 7
How to navigate through Windows 7

Vista Tips and Tweaks
On September 15, 2008, our own Judie Coleman gave a presentation on this subject. Because the OVA Office copier was down, copies of the handout were not available. You can download the document to your computer by clicking in this link: Vista-Tips-and-Tweaks.pdf . Several of the links in the document can also provide an assist for Windows XP, especially the Freeware Defragger for defragmenting all or parts of your hard drive to speed up your computer.
Are you Vista Ready?
Microsoft has a web page to describe the versions of Vista and to download Windows Vista Advisor. If interested, go to: Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor
Here you can go to: Download Windows Vista Advisor. The download is a small application which you can install on your Windows XP Computer. The applet will analyze your system and tell you which items are and aren't Vista Compatible and also describe the different Vista versions.
